Toul Tompong Market

Toul Tompong Market is one of those places that always feels like a little adventure with kids, even when you’re just popping in for one thing. From the moment you step inside, there’s colour everywhere — bright fabrics, toys, quirky souvenirs, and lots of little details that kids instantly latch onto. There’s always something new to point at, ask about, or stop and look at.

We’ve found it works best when you don’t try to “do” the whole market. We just wander slowly and let the kids set the pace, stopping whenever something catches their eye. It’s all indoors, which helps when the sun is high, but it does get very hot inside, so shorter visits tend to work best for us.

One thing we really love about Toul Tompong is how good it is for children’s clothing. There are loads of stalls selling kids’ clothes — everything from everyday bits to fun, colourful outfits — and it’s often much easier (and cheaper) than shopping elsewhere. We’ve definitely gone in “just for a look” and come out with a few bits for the kids.

It’s also a really natural way to introduce children to local market culture. Vendors are generally friendly and kids end up learning just by watching — noticing colours, patterns, and how different stalls sell different things, without it feeling like a lesson.

Because it’s busy, open, and full of visual interest, Toul Tompong Market feels manageable with children. You can stay for 10 minutes or an hour and it still feels worthwhile. And when everyone’s had enough, there are plenty of cafés nearby for a cold drink, a snack, or a quick reset before heading off again.
