Angkor Wildlife and Aquarium

Angkor Wildlife and Aquarium is a really fun and educational outing for families in Siem Reap — especially if you’ve got kids who love animals.

It’s one of those places where children are excited the moment they walk in. From colourful fish tanks and reptiles to bigger animals and unusual species, there’s always something new to spot, which keeps little ones engaged the whole way round. We have been to a lot of zoo’s with our kids in SE Asia and I will say this has probably been the best one in terms of how well looked after the animals look.

What works particularly well with kids is that the visit feels manageable rather than overwhelming. You can wander at your own pace, stop at the exhibits that catch their attention most, and take breaks when needed.

Even though a lot of it is outside it still works well on hot days as all of the inside areas are fully air-coned and most of the outside areas are shared.

It also has that nice mix of being entertaining for children while still interesting for adults, which is always the sweet spot for family attractions.

If you’re visiting Siem Reap with kids and want something animal-filled, engaging, and easy to enjoy together, Angkor Wildlife and Aquarium is a solid choice — especially when you’re looking for something a little different from the temples.

An added bonus is that they offer a free shuttle bus to and from the city and zoo.

Something to note: Personally I feel as though this is a half day out rather than full day.
