Sunset River Cruise

A sunset river cruise in Phnom Penh is a low-effort high-reward activity with kids — we usually go with Crocodile River Cruise.

It’s such an easy way to see the city from a different angle without anyone needing to walk far. Once you’re on the boat, everything slows down. The breeze off the river, the changing colours in the sky, and the boats passing by grab the kids’ attention.

Our children love spotting things along the way — other boats, fishing nets, birds, and the lights slowly coming on along the riverfront. It feels exciting without being overwhelming, which is exactly what works best with little ones.

What we really like about a sunset cruise is that it naturally fits into the day. You’re not rushing, it’s cooler than the daytime heat, and it feels like a proper experience without needing much planning or energy. Kids can sit, stand, move around a little, and just take it all in.

Crocodile cruises feel relaxed and family-friendly, and it’s never felt like a problem having children onboard. It’s the kind of activity where everyone — adults included — actually gets to enjoy themselves.

If you’re visiting Phnom Penh with kids and want something memorable, calm, and genuinely enjoyable, a sunset river cruise is a brilliant option. Simple, beautiful, and one of those experiences that always feels special.

You can find out more information on their website. We never book just turn up on the day.
