The Muffin Man

The Muffin Man is one of those places that feels like it was quietly designed with families in mind — especially if you’ve got kids who need a bit of distraction while you wait for food.

Straight away, it’s an easy win with little ones. They have colouring sheets for the kids, which buys you some calm at the table, and out the front there’s a very small trampoline that’s perfect for burning off a bit of energy. It’s not a full play area, but honestly, even that tiny bit of movement makes such a difference when kids are getting restless.

And then there are the treats — because this is really where The Muffin Man shines. The muffins are incredible, the cheesecakes are dangerously good, and there are always other baked treats that make it very hard to choose just one. It’s the kind of place where you go in for a coffee and leave with a bag of things you absolutely didn’t plan to buy… but don’t regret for a second.

That said, it’s not only about indulgence. If you’re on a bit of a health kick, their salads are genuinely good — so good, in fact, that I’ve definitely ordered the same one multiple days in a row without getting bored. It’s a rare balance of “treat yourself” and “still feeling virtuous”.

The whole place feels relaxed and forgiving. Kids can colour, bounce, snack, and be kids, while parents actually get to sit down and enjoy their food (and maybe finish a coffee while it’s still hot).

Whether you’re stopping in for breakfast, a coffee break, or a mid-day reset with kids in tow, The Muffin Man is one of those dependable family favourites — comforting, easy, and always worth a visit.
